It's a plan anticipating fast population growth
City of Welland approving its Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, as its population grows faster than expected.
This plan will guide future investments in parks, recreation activities, trails, programs and cultural spaces, as the city grows further.
The city says this 5-year review of the 10-year plan reflects extensive community engagement, and strong public support for investment.
Residents identified trails and active transportation, recreational canal opportunities, natural and green spaces, and inclusive programming as key priorities.
The city also found in this review over 90% of the recommendations in the original master plan have already been done, or are underway.
