It happened last week in small town of Bancroft
A small Ontario community is reeling following news a toddler died after he was accidentally left in a hot car.
Bancroft Mayor Paul Jenkins, a close family friend, announced yesterday that 23 month old Everett Smith died last Thursday after his mother, a high school teacher, left him in her car all day while she was at school.
Most of the province was under a heat warning that day.
The child's grandfather tells CTV News, something stressful had happened to his daughter and dropping Everett off at daycare was not part of her daily routine.
The child was found in the car at 3:45.
The OPP is continuing their investigation into the tragedy.
A memorial fund has been set up in Everett's honour.
