Canada's Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam is asking the public to stay home this upcoming Easter.
She says that while the vaccine rollout speed is increasing, the rise of variant cases is putting Canada at a critical point.
Tam warns contagious variant cases are on the rise, making up a higher percentage of new cases in the country.
She is encouraging people to continue limiting their contacts and following safety protocols.
Since less than ten percent of Canadians have received a vaccine dose, people are urged against holding large gatherings for Easter, which is in two weeks.
