Agency says retail sales fell 2.5 percent in July.
Statistics Canada is reporting a drop in retail sales for the month of July.
The agency says retail sales fell 2.5 percent to $61.3 billion, due in large part to declining sales at gas stations and clothing stores.
Sales at gas stations decreased by 14.2 percent as gas prices went down by 9.2 percent.
Meanwhile, stores selling clothes and accessories reported a drop of 3.3 percent.
