
Arrest made after man was stabbed, cell phone stolen while he slept
Police have charged a 48-year old man after a stabbing in St. Catharines earlier this month, and they're looking for a 2nd man also involved.
It happened toward dawn in the Niagara and Queenston Street area, when a man was sleeping outside after leaving a nearby bar, and was hit, stabbed, and his cell phone was stolen.
Police arrested Mark Formanek, of no fixed address, charging him with:
- Attempted Murder – s239(1) Criminal Code
- Disguise with Intent – 351(2) Criminal Code
- Carry Concealed Weapon – 90(1) Criminal Code
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose – 88(1) Criminal Code
He had a bail hearing Friday.
Police found the knife believed to be involved, and video of the suspect before and after the attack.
They're also looking for another man, who did not help the victim after the stabbing, or call for help, but police say he stole the victim's cell phone.

The victim is making a full recovery. Police also believe this was an isolated attack, and don't believe there is any danger to the public.
