Man accused of assault with a weapon
Police are asking for help locating an assault suspect.
Around 8:33 a.m. this morning, officers were called to a home near Kottmeier Road and Port Robinson Road in Thorold.
Officers say an assault took place and the suspect fled the scene, possibly on foot.
A loaded handgun that was carried by the suspect was found at the scene.
There was a large police presence in the area as officers tried to find the suspect, but he wasn't found.
Juan Carlos Castro, 28, of Niagara Falls is wanted for the following offences:
- Assault
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
This investigation is in its early stages and additional charges are expected.
Castro is described as follows:
- Male
- Black
- 28 years of age
- 5’10" tall
- 170lbs
- Braided medium length black hair
- Known to wear glasses
Castro was last seen wearing:
- White jacket
- White sweater
- Black pants
Investigators say Castro may be armed, and shouldn't be approached.
