June is Bike Month, and the OPP is issuing a reminder to road users to make safety a top priority.
So far this year, there have been 34 collisions on OPP-patrolled roads involving a car and a cyclist.
Two of those crashes proved fatal.
The OPP is reminding vehicle drivers to slow down and maintain at least a one metre distance when passing bikes, and keep an eye out for passing cyclists when opening doors.
Cyclists are advised to check for vehicles and other bikes with right of way before entering intersections, know your place in the line of traffic when approaching an intersection, and obey all traffic signs.
