Starting Monday, people who have called 911 or the non-emergency line can receive text messages from the OPP
Ontario Provincial Police are about to utilize a new tool.
Starting Monday, if someone contacts the OPP from a phone that can get text messages, the caller will get a text with their event number as well as other details about the call.
For example, if someone calls to report a car accident, they might get a text back that includes information on Collision Reporting Centres.
They might also get asked to provide feedback on their experience with the OPP, once a responding officer has cleared the call.
The OPP says information collected through the automated surveys will help it find opportunities to better serve the public.
Message will be available in English and French, and recipients will be able to opt out of getting any more messages from the system.
