The NRP will be on the lookout for noisy vehicles over the next two weeks.
It has launched Operation Loud and Clear targetting drivers who have removed or modified their muffler to make it louder.
The law states that every motor vehicle must have a muffler in good working order without creating excessive noise.
You could face an $85 fine if you're caught breaking this rule.
Your vehicle could also be subject to a safety inspection if officers find suspicious aftermarket modifications.
If they determine it's unsafe it will be towed away.
