An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at the Extended Care Unit at Welland General Hospital.
Although only one resident tested positive for the virus, Niagara Health says it meets provincial guidelines for an outbreak in a long-term care setting.
NH officials say they are taking all necessary steps to create the safest possible environment for the residents and staff including twice-daily screenings.
In-person visiting continues to be restricted and are limited to pre-approved Essential Caregivers.
The Extended Care Unit is a 75-bed long-term care home.
