Jennie Stevens wants provincial ban on parking metres at certain apartment buildings, especially where seniors are
St. Catharines MPP wants the provincial government to step in the way of paid parking metres at apartment buildings and other rental properties.
The NDP's Jennie Stevens says corporate landlords are getting away with highway robbery on parking fees, so she's introduced a motion asking the government ban parking metres.
She says tenants in her community, and those who visit them, are being charged extortionate rates to park at their own home, while they already face soaring rental prices.
She also says the impacted properties are home to many seniors already facing unfair fees, and some residents need visits from PSWs and other home care providers.
However, in some cases, PSWs have refused to give care where there's paid parking.
