Fort Erie's mayor also questioning the authority of Chair Gale in desire to change regional government
A critical response from Fort Erie's mayor to Regional Chair Bob Gale's desire to revamp the regional government.
Wayne Redekop first points out the letter to the Mayors was dated February 5th, but not sent until the 19th, and the Chair wants a response from the mayors by March 3rd.
Redekop indicates this simply isn't enough time to give careful and informed response to disruptive changes like amalgamation.
The mayor also points out Bob Gale was not elected as Chair, but appointed by the Premier, therefore questions what authority the Chair has.
Redekop adds he will write to Minister of Municipal Affairs Rob Flack expressing concern, and that Fort Erie can stand on its own with healthy reserves and low tax rate.
