Jim Diodati says it'll come with a new BIA constitution, after old was dissolved
Niagara Falls mayor is feeling optimistic for the future of the downtown, and especially the BIA.
City council recently dissolved the BIA over threats and intimidation within, which the mayor says is being investigated by police.
Jim Diodati blames the old constitution for those problems, so a new one will be made. "Once you have a solid foundation, you could put as many floors on that building as you want, and it'll be solid. So, we think that we've got a lot of good people in the downtown, and the way it was designed, it was almost designed to fail."
The former BIA Chair, Phil Ritchie, told us there wasn't more he could say about this story.
The mayor is looking forward to a new BIA to be made over the next two years, all to go along with future development including the GO train and Thorold Stone road expansion.
"And, of course, the new Niagara Falls University, which will be starting early next year. So, we figured it was a good time to hit the re-set button, let's re-build the constitution, let's re-populate the board," he says.
