Police say the posters were taped to hydro poles and other locations in Thorold
Police have arrested a man in relation to some defamatory posters that were taped to hydro poles and other locations in Thorold.
Police say the posters were found in late March, with an image, personal contact information, and unfounded and defamatory remarks about a victim.
Police did not give any further information to protect the identity of the victim.
On Friday, police searched a home in St. Catharines, and arrested 29-year old Joseph Michael Roy of St. Catharines.
He was charged with:
- Publish libel known to be false (six counts)
- Disobey lawful order of court
- Careless storage of a firearm (two counts)
- Unlicensed person possess prohibited weapon
- Unlicensed person possess prohibited device
He was released from custody with a June court date.
