Suspect accused of stealing elderly woman's purse
A man from Grimsby has been arrested after an elderly woman was robbed.
Police say on February 8th, a woman's purse was stolen in a grocery store parking lot near South Service Road and Casablanca Blvd.
The suspect took off in a Mazda sedan.
Investigators believe the suspect used the woman's credit cards to buy lottery tickets and gift cards at local businesses.
The victim, who is in her 80s, was not injured.
Yesterday, police arrested 37 year Matthew Cameron Norton.
He has been charged with the following criminal offences:
- Robbery contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
- Unauthorized use of a credit card contrary to section 342(1)(i) of the Criminal Code (2 Counts)
- Fail to comply with undertaking contrary to section 145(4) of the Criminal Code
Norton was held in custody and will appear in court later today.
