Gas analyst give credit to Iran war ceasefire
Gas prices across Niagara and beyond expected to drop roughly 10 cents a litre tonight, due to the ceasefire of the war in Iran.
Gas analyst Dan McTeague points out that's the wholesale price change, meaning gas stations have room on the price.
He stresses to always buy gas after 6pm, any day. "It'll probably drop to about $1.67, $1.68, $1.69 in many stations. The wholesale price is down 13 cents, but retailers tend to like getting rid of their operating costs, by shaving it another 5 cents."
He also points to government taxes that continue to rip people off.
He recalls about 25-years ago when a Liberal MP was able to get rebates for people. "His name was Dan McTeague. So, I'm familiar with what can be done, what should be done, what ought to have been. It's immoral, but the government has so little integrity, and apparently the floor crossers that go along with it, I'm not surprised that we're getting stiffed. What surprises me is Canadians just going along with it and thinking it's ok."
He says the marketplace will dictate how long the price change lasts.
