The Fort Erie Fire Department is reminding everyone about the dangers of electrical fires and how to prevent them.
There are approximately 45,000 home electrical fires each year and most electrical fire deaths happen between midnight and 8 am.
The peak months for electrical fire deaths is between November and March.
You should only have one heat producing appliance, such as a coffee maker or microwave, plugged into the same outlet and you should never have a heat producing appliance plugged into an extension cord.
