Niagara police stopped over 1,000 vehicles Friday night in R.I.D.E. checks
More drunk drivers taken off the streets by Niagara regional police on St. Patrick's Day.
They stopped over 1,000 vehicles in St. Catharines and Thorold, and 18 were required to give breath samples.
Police say around 7pm, they noticed a Chevy Silverado approach, but it then made a U-turn.
Police pulled the 24-year-old St. Catharines driver over and after a breathalyzer, the legal limit for impairment was exceeded.
Later that night, around 10:30, police inspected a Dodge Caravan, and noticed signs of impairment.
When the driver was asked to get out of the vehicle, an open beer can fell to the ground.
The driver also blew over the legal limit.
Both of these drivers were arrested.
