Driver Arrested During Festive RIDE Campaign Spot Check

Another driver handed a three day licence suspension

Niagara Regional Police kicked off their Festive R.I.D.E. campaign over the weekend with checkpoints in Port Colborne and St. Catharines.

Police stopped roughly 250 vehicles on Main Street West in Port Colborne Saturday.

 A total of nine drivers were asked to take a breathalyzer with one driver registering an “ALERT” .

The driver had their licence suspended for three days as a result.

A second checkpoint on Westchester Crescent in St. Catharines saw police stop approximately 300 vehicles. 

A total of seven drivers were asked to take a roadside breath test.

One driver registered a “FAIL” and was arrested. 

Their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and their licence suspended for 90 days.
