Collective agreement between board and union ratified
An agreement has been reached between the District School Board of Niagara and its CUPE workers.
Yesterday, a deal between the board and CUPE 4156 was ratified.
The contract, which covers maintenance, trades, office and instructional staff, will be in place until 2026.
"Highlights that appear in both the Facilities and the Office, Clerical, Technical and Instructional support Collective Agreements include incorporation of Indigenous leave language, increases to educational allowances to support staff training, language to reflect gender neutrality, as well as updates to compassionate leave language related to special circumstances."
About 2,000 DSBN employees are members of the union.
Over 40,000 students attend DSBN schools, and the board employs more than 6,000 people across Niagara.
