Barricaded Man Arrested in Grimsby

It was a peaceful end to a tense situation in Grimsby.

Lakeview Public School and a nearby daycare had to go into lockdown yesterday afternoon after a man assaulted two NRP officers.

The officers were not hurt.

Police say the man was naked and he was trying to break into numerous homes in the Murray and Olive Street area.

He barricaded himself inside his own home after he was confronted by police.

Officers were able to safety evacuate Lakeview Public and the local daycare at around 3:20 p.m.

The 50-year-old man was peacefully taken into custody at around 6:00 p.m. and he has been charged with two counts of assaulting police.
